5. The graphical dialog provider Yad

The program Yad (Yet Another Dialog) presents Starbuntu with an extremely versatile variety of graphical dialog types and in this way enables Starbuntu to perform any dialogs within its special applications on the graphical user interface.

In Starbuntu the following dialog types provided by Yad are used:

Within the particular dialog types Yad offers a multitude of formatting alternatives which can be looked up in the manual of Yad (terminal command: man yad or click here).

Please be careful in case of inserting certain special characters in Yad because some of them can lead to undesired results. In the Starbuntu applications which use Yad you may find a button called 'Hints'. By clicking on it you'll get an appropriate workaround.

The configuration file yad.conf of Yad can be found in ~/.config.

You'll find interesting examples for the use of Yad in the web sources http://smokey01.com/yad/ and https://www.thelinuxrain.org/articles/the-buttons-of-yad/.
